Our UK Aid Match appeals explained

What is UK Aid Match?

All donations made during Aid Match appeals are matched by the UK government, pound for pound, up to a total of £2 million. We hope knowing your gift goes twice as far inspires you to give – because there are so many people around the world who desperately need your help.

The Aid Match initiative gives supporters an amazing opportunity to double the impact of donations. With your help, we can prevent avoidable blindness and save the sight of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

When does UK Aid Match apply?

Sightsavers’ most recent Aid Match appeal took place between 9 October 2019 and 9 January 2020. Donations made during this time were doubled by the UK government.

Any new regular donations set up within the appeal window were matched for up to three months, and any additional amounts donated on top of existing regular donations were also matched.

What impact do my donations have?

Your donation is used to support our work wherever the need is greatest.  The matched funds raised through UK Aid Match will support our eye health projects in Uganda and Malawi.

These projects will deliver eye care services, particularly for marginalised groups including women and people living with disabilities. We will provide eye examinations, deliver treatments and perform operations in local communities, which will help to improve eye health in the long term.
