Help Sightsavers prevent blindness

For 75 years, Sightsavers has been working to eliminate avoidable blindness and protect the sight of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. But we can only continue our charity work with your support. Please will you donate today?

More than 2 billion people have a visual impairment, and around half could have been treated or prevented. Sightsavers is committed to a world where no one goes blind from avoidable causes. Will you join us?

Working with local partners and community volunteers in more than 30 countries across Africa and Asia, our ambitious projects restore sight and help to transform lives. Sightsavers is helping distribute medicines to treat painful diseases which can ultimately lead to sight loss, such as trachoma and river blindness. We also help provide access to sight-saving operations for eye conditions including cataracts.

Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes or excluded from accessing their rights because of a disability.

Sightsavers not only helps to save sight but also improves overall health and quality of life. A child who receives treatment can often return to school, while an adult has a better chance of working for a living. We are helping to break the cycle of poverty and ensure everyone can participate fully in their communities.

Our work starts with sight, but we don’t stop there. We support people with disabilities and fight for their rights to education, employment and voting, and for equal access to healthcare. And with your support, together we can do even more.

By donating to Sightsavers today, you will help build a world where everyone can access the eye care they need. Without urgent action, by 2050 the number of people worldwide who are blind could reach 61 million. Your gift could help ensure this doesn’t happen, by providing essential eye treatments for people in remote communities.

Please will you donate to Sightsavers?

How we use donations

91% of gifts to Sightsavers, including donated supplies, go directly to our charity work. The remainder helps grow awareness of Sightsavers and raises more funds for our projects.

How your donation could make a difference

Restoring sight

Your donation could help pay for operations to treat cataracts and other eye conditions, allowing people to see loved ones' faces and return to work or school.

Preventing blindness

Your donation could help provide preventative medicines for tropical diseases, including trachoma and river blindness, which can ultimately lead to sight loss.

Promoting inclusion

Your donation could help advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, empowering individuals to live independently and take part fully in their communities.

Training health workers

To ensure our programmes bring long-term, sustainable benefits to the countries and communities where we work, Sightsavers supports the training of eye care professionals, just like Alinafe. We helped Alinafe gain the qualifications to become an ophthalmologist at his local hospital in Malawi.

Your donation could help Sightsavers to…

Eliminate blinding diseases

Sightsavers and our partners have already helped to eliminate trachoma in four countries. Working with local volunteers, we provide eye checks and medicines to the communities still at risk from this painful disease.

Restore a child's sight

One-year-old Mobwin's mother noticed white dots in his eyes and took him to hospital, where he was diagnosed with cataracts. A Sightsavers project helped Mobwin receive the life-changing operation he needed.

Supporters like you have helped provide:

226 million eye tests and examinations

204 million trachoma treatments

7.1 million life‑changing pairs of glasses
