This is the second film award for Sightsavers in recent weeks. On 27 April the organisation collected another bronze award at the 2019 Charity Film Awards for a film showcasing the one billionth treatment for neglected tropical diseases.
The latest award, for Sightsavers’ ‘What We Do’ brand film, was announced as part of the 2019 Brand Film Festival, hosted by PR Week and Campaign magazine at Hawker House in London on 1 May. Nominated films were showcased throughout the event, which also included case studies and panel discussions on the best branded films in Europe.
Sightsavers’ film was honoured in the Not for Profit/Giving Back category, in which both charities and corporate entries were accepted. The gold award in the category went to Samaritans an agency Pegasus, for their film ’Small Talk Saves Lives’.
Sightsavers’ ‘What We Do’ film presents an overview of Sightsavers’ work and features footage from its programmes around the world, as well as quotes from CEO Caroline Harper and key members of staff. It showcases snapshots of the organisation’s achievements, and shows some of the work that has been done to protect sight and fight for disability rights.
Voiced by actress and Sightsavers ambassador Sunetra Sarker, the film was produced in collaboration with London-based Magneto Films.
Sightsavers will host two events and two exhibition spaces at the event in Berlin on 2-3 April, calling on attendees to join us in targeting inequality.
We’re attending the conference in Chicago on 22-26 March to share Sightsavers’ expertise, engage with the education community and explore how we can help to transform inclusive education.
The IT Bridge Academy, which supports young people with disabilities to train for a career in IT, received the accolade from technology company Cisco.
