Ethical banking app Novus helps to prevent blindness

August 2021

A new banking app enables customers to support Sightsavers by donating virtual ‘coins’ every time they use their bank card.

Digital banking service Novus has partnered with several ethical brands and charities, including Sightsavers. Users can switch everyday payments to the Novus card and app, enabling them to accumulate free credits known as ‘impact coins’ that can be used to support social and environmental causes.

Sightsavers will be able to provide one life-changing trachoma treatment with every 1800 impact points generated through the app.

Novus co-founder and CEO Hristian Nedyalkov said: “Every time you tap your Novus card, our app contributes impact coins to various causes, resulting in micro-wins for both yourself and the planet. You can then track your impact and even view your carbon footprint to see just how far your conscious purchases have gone.

“Our commitment to making a positive social, economic and environmental impact is what lies at our core, and we are thrilled to have the support of 10 incredible NGOs as we embark on this journey.”
