Sightsavers partnership aims to improve inclusion in hospitality

April 2023

Sightsavers has partnered with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance to improve disability inclusion in the hospitality sector.

The partnership will enable both organisations to collaborate and share knowledge that will help make the industry accessible to everyone, with a particular focus on countries in Africa and Asia.

The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (SHA) is an influential network of member hotels, representing more than 50,000 properties and seven million rooms globally. The SHA joins with philanthropic organisations, non-profits, governments and the private sector to take action on shared sustainability challenges.

Sightsavers and SHA have already worked together on an Inclusion Works programme to increase employment opportunities for young people with disabilities in Kenya and Nigeria. This new long-term partnership will help coordinate action to scale up the impact of the programme.

Sustainable Hospitality Alliance CEO Glenn Mandziuk said: “I’m delighted to welcome Sightsavers as a partner to the Alliance. This is an opportunity for both organisations to share best practice, align on research and produce tangible solutions to make the hospitality industry more inclusive for people with disabilities.”

Sightsavers CEO Caroline Harper said: “Disability inclusion is at the core of Sightsavers’ work, so we are proud to partner with the Alliance to make the hospitality industry more accessible for all. This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate and share knowledge of what really works to improve people’s lives.”
